Student Story
Jono Taylor
Jono chose a career in Infrastructure Works
After 17 years in job he didn’t love, Jono Taylor saw an ad for TPP’s Infrastructure Works programme, packed up his family, moved to the Coast and hasn’t looked back since.
“I got work straight out of training and it’s been a quick introduction to the industry. I’ve definitely done the right thing – we’ve bought a house and we’re loving it.”
“I had a mate from Christchurch over to stay and he said to me: I know why you did this, every day’s like a mental health day here.”
It was a big move to shift his family across country, but Jono says it was worth it to create a better life.
“When I was growing up, I always wanted to be a digger driver or a policeman. When I saw the ad for TPP it just seemed the right thing to do.
“The training was bloody good. The tutors made the whole transition easy for me and they work hard for their students. They’ve helped me get both jobs and I’m working on a digger every day, loving it.”
