Counselling Services

Tai Poutini Polytechnic wants to ensure the success of our students. We understand that at times problems will arise that could affect your studies. TPP have contracted Organisational Counselling Programmes (OCP) to provide counselling support to our students. OCP counsellors assist you to deal with issues which may affect your ability to study.
Counselling can help with many issues, including:
- Stress (personal or study)
- Relationship concerns
- Addictions (Alcohol, Drugs, Gambling)
- Anxiety/Depression
- Conflict resolution
- Anger
- Goal setting/decision making
- Grief
- Harassment
The service will allow students at our campuses to access 24/7 confidential and professional counselling provided by an independent organisation. All counselling professionals employed by OCP are qualified, registered and experienced. They have over 80 counsellors nationwide.
You can contact OCP directly to book an appointment via the freephone number – 0800 377 990 or book online via the website here - you will need to show you student ID card for counselling visits.
You may self-refer or referrals can also be made through your programme tutor or student support staff. Assistance to make a counselling appointment is available through Student Services.
All OCP counselling sessions are completely confidential and details of the sessions will not be discussed with anyone without written permission.
For other students, please enquire at your campus, or phone 0800 TPP SUPPORT to find out about services available in your area.
1737 Need to Talk? – is a free call or text national mental health and addictions helpline number (just call or text 1737). The helpline is staffed by trained counsellors, is available 24/7, is completely confidential and you can remain anonymous if you wish.
