How to use Social Media to grow your business

Having a social media presence has become critical for marketing your business in an increasingly digital world. Savvy businesses are using social media to add value and build loyalty with their existing customers, and attract new ones. In this session we will show you different digital tools you can use to simplify business processes, improve productivity and reach new customers. The Digital Tools 1 hour workshop will cover the following topics:

  • What online tools are available across different business processes, like sales, customer management and project management
  • Show you tools that can be used to automate business processes to save you time and reduce manual tasks

This beginner’s workshop is where you will learn how to use Photoshop to edit, crop and resize your photos. Get the perfect photo for your personal or business social media feed – its quality visual content that gets your audience’s attention. Bring along your own photo to edit on a USB. iPhone video making seminar

Unlock the power of your iPhone. Save money and make great video content yourself.

Make great video content using your phone! Most people don’t use iMovie on their iPhone and have no idea how simple it is. There is an explosion of growth in video on social media, and video is by far the most engaging way to communicate online.

A third of all online activity is spent watching video. 65% of people are visual learners, and 90% of the information transmitted to the brain is visual. The majority of people much prefer video content to reading, so find out how easy it is to make movies on an iPhone - more engagement, more sales, more money!

You’ll learn how to:

  • Quickly create short but professional looking videos for business or personal use
  • Plan storytelling, filming techniques, and add basic logos
  • Leverage social media with video
  • Gain confidence with interview techniques and how to present on camera

Children’s Digital Storytelling

This event is where traditional reading and interactive digital reading meet. Children are welcome to join the digital storytime session where the story Oat the Goat will be shared.

Oat the Goat is an interactive, online story book, which aims to teach children about empathy, acceptance and tolerance. Ideal for 4 – 7 year olds to learn about the power of kindness and encourages children to make the right decision through a positive interactive and engaging experience.

Video for Change

The video for change shares Greymouth’s pitfalls and success through the eyes of our local young people. Calling all the young people of Greymouth – Come join the conversation and inspire change for the Greymouth community!

You will also hear presentations from three inspiring local speakers. Experience a fast-paced visual journey using the internationally renowned Pecha Kucha style of delivery: 20 pictures explained for 20 seconds each. Get inspired and share your own thoughts on how Greymouth could be even greater! A bonus is FREE finger food will be provided.

The Lego Challenge

To be inspired is to be able to think, engage and share the big and the small blocks of life with a community. The Greymouth High School Lego Challenge is for all ages and allows people to design, build and develop something that they can share in a collaborative environment. The competition is a first come first serve basis, gather teams of 2-4 and let the fun begin!
