You will develop the skills to safely competently operate an overhead gantry crane, while understanding and controlling the potential hazards associated with operations.

Method of study
Unit Standards
Gain 24 credits across the following unit standards:
- 30072 – demonstrate and apply knowledge of slinging regular loads safely
- 3800 – use a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane to lift and place regular loads
Entry requirements
- Be 16 years or over
- Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.5
- Relevant work experience is required in use of a gantry type crane.
- Must be physically fit
Note: Some courses within this programme require specific levels of physical ability.
