The West Coast offers a host of lifestyle and outdoor attractions. The town is right in the heartland of the stunning West Coast landscape and offers opportunities for a wide range of activities including tramping, kayaking, skiing and mountaineering. There are also many sports clubs keen to attract new members, where you will be made very welcome. Greymouth is a great place to be a student!

The warm relaxed West Coast Culture is something of a Kiwi icon in its own right. Studying at Tai Poutini in Greymouth is an opportunity to experience that culture - to enjoy it right now and look back on it with pleasure in later years.

The central location of our campus means that owning transport becomes less of an issue for you. Greymouth is within easy travelling distance of Christchurch (248km) with the trip over the magnificent Otira Gorge and Porters Pass taking three hours by car.

There is a regular shuttle and train service from Greymouth, while the Air New Zealand Link Service between Hokitika and Christchurch provides easy access to connecting flights from the city. Within three or four hours you can be home, whether that's Invercargill, Gisborne or Northland.

The West Coast offers a host of attractions, including the mighty Buller River, Paparoa National Park with its spectacular limestone caves and the remarkable Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers. Almost all the West Coast region is National Park or Conservation Estate land, providing the perfect setting for activities such as bush walking, fishing, surfing, caving, mountain climbing and watching spectacular sunsets.
