Hundreds of local school students, job seekers, employers and industry representatives are expected to turn‐out for next week’s West Coast Pathways Career Expo.

With more than 40 businesses and training providers getting ready to take part and some exciting guest speakers on the agenda, this year’s event will be the biggest showcase of career opportunities the West Coast has seen in recent years.

Tai Poutini Polytechnic is leading the event along with support from the West Coast Pathways Committee, Grey District Council Mayors Task Force for Jobs, Development West Coast Upskill Project, West Coast Trades Academy, West REAP and the Ministry of Education.

The roadshow is coming to Westport’s Pulse Energy Centre on Wednesday 16 June then moving to Tai Poutini Polytechnic’s Greymouth campus on Thursday 17 June. Highlights for attendees will be guest speakers William Pike, the sportsman and explorer behind the William Pike Challenge at 11:30am, and award‐winning West Coast dairy farmer Rachael Lind 10.00am (both days) – don’t miss them!

Tai Poutini Polytechnic Leader – Engagement Mequa Hourston says the preparations are almost complete and everyone involved is looking forward to welcoming visitors and exhibitors from all over New Zealand to the West Coast roadshow.

“We’re really excited to be able to bring all of these employers, training providers, and support agencies together under one roof to talk about education and employment opportunities with West Coasters. With our guest speakers all set and a rolling schedule of activities each day, we know visitors will have a great time and find plenty of options to consider for their future.

“Getting behind the road show is one of the ways we are supporting our community. We are more than a polytechnic: Tai Poutini Polytechnic is an essential part of our community, supporting local events, working alongside local businesses and getting behind local initiatives.”

Participants including the Department of Conservation, Ngai Tahu Forestry, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Open Polytechnic, Southern Institute of Technology, NZ Defence Force, University of Canterbury, the Electoral Commission, Ministry of Social Development and many, many more!

Visitors will be able to check out training and employment options, join in on fun interactive activities and listen to speakers. The event is open to the public and schools. www.tpp.ac.nz/pathways
