Get free training through TPP in critical industries
Study for free at Tai Poutini Polytechnic (TPP) in critical post-lockdown industries with the Government’s $320 million Trades and Apprenticeships Training package to support the COVID-19 recovery.
The Government has made it easier for New Zealanders who want to train in industries where demand is expected to grow as the country recovers from COVID-19.
So, if you want to retrain to get new skills in these key areas, you can do it for free with TPP! The fund covers those training in:
- Primary industries, including agriculture, horticulture and viticulture, fisheries (including aquaculture) and forestry;
- Construction, including building, plumbing, and civil engineering;
- Community support, including youth work, care for elderly, counselling and community health, including mental health and addiction support;
- Manufacturing and mechanical engineering and technology;
- Electrical engineering; and
- Road transport (eg heavy vehicle operator).
TPP Leader – Engagement Mequa Hourston says people should contact TPP directly to talk about free training options that are available from 1 July 2020 for the next two years.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people looking to get started in their career, or those looking to retrain and seek jobs in key industries that we know need people to start work right now. TPP already offers many programmes included in the fees free initiatives and we can look at options for delivering other training that meets the needs of the West Coast.
“Free training in critical areas is open to everyone – so give us a call today to talk about what skills you can learn for free, right here at home.”
The Trades and Apprenticeships Training Package will make a range of training and apprenticeship programmes at sub-degree level free for learners. It is targeted towards industry skill needs where demand from employers for these skills will continue to be strong, or is expected to grow, during New Zealand’s recovery period from the impacts of COVID-19.
