Employment agreements – basics for business

Employment agreements basics for business

Did you know that as of 1 July 2011 all employers are required to retain a signed copy of an employment agreement for all employees, and provide a copy of the agreement on request to the employee? So here’s what you must include:

  • Names of the employee and employer
  • A description of work to be performed
  • Place of work
  • Hours of work
  • Wages or salary
  • A plain English explanation of problem solving processes and how to raise a Personal Grievance
  • An Employee Protection Provision
  • Arrangements for working on a public holiday
But if you want to make it even easier, check out MBIE’s Employment Agreement Builder at https://employment.govt.nz/starting-employment/employment-agreements/employment-agreement-builder/
