Carpentry house up for charity auction
Tai Poutini Polytechnic (TPP) will auction this year’s student-built carpentry house to the public, with the proceeds less direct costs of materials being donated to charity.
Every year, TPP students work on a new home as part of their carpentry training. The home, which is built under real quality and consent conditions, is usually offered for sale to members of the public through a ballot system.
TPP Facilities Manager Doug Griffin says this year the Polytechnic has partnered with West Coast Coastguard and will put the house up for public auction, with the net proceeds going to the charity which is raising funds for a new vessel.
“We are doing things a little differently this year and offering the public a great opportunity to bid for a brand new, quality home. We are also excited to be partnering with West Coast Coastguard and hope we can make a solid contribution to the charity.”
